"Something went wrong" when uploading an avatar

Almost always a guidelines issue rather than a technical fault. Our system checks images on upload.

The most common cause is an image of a real person. We don't allow real people as avatars — public figures or not, and including edited or cropped images. See article 7.4.

If you're using a real photo, replace it with fully fictional artwork. If you want a likeness, generate an AI version in a semi-realistic, cartoon or anime style rather than something photorealistic.

Other common causes:

• The image reads as youthful or childlike — see article 7.2
• The image contains a non-human animal — see article 7.7
• The image shows explicit sexual activity, which isn't permitted for avatars
• The Image’s dimensions exceed 1000 pixels on any side. Resize the image smaller or crop it.

To work out whether it's the image or your text, temporarily replace the character's description with just "Adult person" and try uploading. If it saves, the problem was in your wording. If it still fails, it's the image.

Try a different crop. Our system is more sensitive to tight headshots — an image showing the character from head to hips often passes where a close face crop doesn't.

If you believe an image was flagged wrongly, send it to us. We collect these to improve the system.
