Age and youthful appearance

Every character must be an adult, and must read as an adult. This is the rule we enforce most strictly, and the one behind the most removals.

State the age explicitly. If a character's adult age isn't clearly stated, and anything about them could read as younger, our moderators have to make a judgement call — and they err on the side of caution. Stating "twenty-four" removes the ambiguity.

Appearance matters as much as the stated age. A character described as 25 with a childlike avatar will still be removed. Our moderators assess physical appearance against the Tanner scale, a standard developmental reference — if a body reads as roughly 12–17, the character will be actioned regardless of what the text says.

What we require in an avatar: mature facial features, a mature physique, adult proportions.

Youthful-looking characters get individual scrutiny even when listed as 18+.

If your character was removed for this, changing the avatar to one that clearly reads as adult and resubmitting is usually all that's needed.
