Characters based on real public figures and licensed properties

Inspired likeness in text is allowed. You can create a character inspired by a real person or an existing property, described in words.

Imagery is not. No photographs, promotional images, event captures, screenshots, or fan art depicting a real individual — see article 7.4.

We comply with takedown requests promptly. Where a rights holder asks us to remove content relating to their artists, properties or likenesses — through a DMCA notice or otherwise — we act on it, and we remove the affected characters as soon as they're identified. Depending on the request, this can extend to names as well as images.

If your character was removed under a takedown request, the notice you received will say so. The usual fix is to remove the imagery and the identifying names/description and use an original character instead.

You may still see similar characters on the platform. We understand how that looks. When a takedown request comes in we work through the affected characters, and given the volume on the platform that takes time. It isn't selective enforcement.
